On June 15, Chang Tsi & Partners’ Founding Partner Spring Chang presented an informative speech at the China IP Road Show in Texas at the USPTO’s request. The conference was organized by the USPTO, U.S. Commercial Service Dallas-Fort Worth and Dallas Bar Association. The Dallas show prepared a 4-person panel of distinguished Chinese lawyers to present on how U.S. rights holders can seek IP protection in China.

Aptly titled “Securing IP Rights in China – Copyright Protection”, Chang’s 3-part presentation focused on copyright protection, and walked the audience through the Chinese legal system, new trends in IP cases, and important issues for foreign rights holders. After a brief summary of Chinese administrative rules and regulations, registration, protection systems, and a comparison of Sino-US copyright, she delved into new trends like that of increasing copyright dispute cases. The final part of her presentation provided insights on changes in relevant issues for foreign rights holders.

The audience of U.S. businesses and rights holders received her speech with interest. Her useful insights sparked conversation amongst the assembly and successfully served to aid in their commercial pursuits.
